The cold stole the air from my lungs, a shocking contrast to the sweet scented steam of the coffee shop. Shading my eyes against the late afternoon sun, I looked down the street, saw Dorian sauntering down the sidewalk in the direction of the shitty old apartment building.
I felt a little bit crazy.
I didn’t care.
If he wasn’t going to make me choose, why did I have to choose myself?
No one was ever going to call me a skank again.
“Dorian!” My voice carried easily over the thin, cold air. He paused, cocked his head, turned.
The grin on his face when he saw me lit me up from inside, reaffirming what I was about to do.
In the end, he might just want me for sex after all. But I didn’t think so. I didn’t think he would risk his friendship with Mal over me.
“Long time no see, sweetheart.” He grinned as I ran to him, out of breath. “But I’d love to see more of you, so I’m a happy bloke.”
“Good.” Before I could chicken out, I reached up, clasped my arms around his neck. His eyes widened as I pressed the length of my body against his. “Because I think I want to see a lot more of you.”
And then I kissed him. Standing on my toes, I threaded his hair through my hands and pulled his head down to mine. Nerves trembled through me, but I still didn’t miss the way he let me do as I wanted, holding perfectly still as I crushed his lips against mine.
He let me sample, let me find my rhythm, but as soon as my tongue darted out to flick over his lips, he groaned, his control seeming to snap.
“I’m a man.” He informed me as he half lifted, half dragged me to the side of the office building that stood in front of us. High on power, I giggled, rolling my hips against the ridge of his sudden—very hard—erection.
“Mmm. I can tell.” I wanted to kiss him again, before my mind, my memories kicked in and told me not to. I tried to do just that, but he turned his head to the side.
Undeterred, I sank my teeth into the cord of muscle in his neck, savored his curse.
“Don’t tease me unless you’re sure of what you want.” Above me, his face was dark, dangerous, his breath forming clouds of steam above our heads.
This was not a man to fuck around with. He was dangerous.
But I didn’t think that that danger would ever be directed at me.
“You said you would never make me choose.” I chose my words carefully, but couldn’t stop my body from pressing against his, begging for more. “And that makes me more sure than I thought I could ever be.”
He studied me for a long moment, those hazel eyes inquisitive, missing nothing.
Then he grasped my shoulders in his hands and slammed me back against the brick wall. I should have wanted to run, but instead felt myself growing wetter in the most delicious of ways.
